That's why I NEVER lend out DVDs of my favorite shows. Everything else, yes but I'm too worried someone will forget to give them back and then I'll be without them which just will not do. I had that happen a while ago with Wonderfalls and I ended up buying a brand-new copy because I didn't want to wait until my friend finally remembered to return it! :)
