oh man, I have been so trying not to smack people around on TWOP who keep trying to put Jacob and 'Esau' in little good/evil boxes (not always Jacob=good). When to me it's so obviously about dualities like chaos/order, faith/science, life/death -- all these dualities are in play, but neither is intrinsically "good" or "evil". We need them both, but in balance, and the balance has been broken on the island for some time. both of them seem like chessmasters, moving all the little people around.
Although in Jacob's defense it occurs to me that Jacob might have marked them purposefully not just to make them come back to the island, but to make sure the timeflashes would take them to the right when/where. Hopefully that means Sun is going to be the anchor for them all to come forward to the present. Or maybe she has some badassery to come on the beach, when she, Ilana and Richard go try to take down FauxLocke... Dunno, but I think Jacob's been planning this for a long time.
But poor Juliet flashing-forward and then stuck at the bottom of the Swan. I think there's concrete there, too, IIRC - so she's gonna need some serious supernatural assistance to get out of there. Or Desmond was "thrown" wans't he, when he turned the failsafe key? So maybe she was too, and they'll find her magically healed wandering the jungle! As long as she comes back (as more than Smokey!Juliet, because that would just break my heart).
