Anyone looking for new comms?

We just finished up Slayerfest over at whedonland. That means it's the perfect time for new members so if anyone's interested, head over there right away!

Anyone on my flist a fan of Bones or Torchwood? The teams are very un-even at bonesland and Teams Intern & Squint could definately use more members. Also, teams are still being organized over at wholand so there's still time to join up. Team Unit could really use more members.

And I promise a non-comm related post in the near future :D.

Sooooo, quick question. It's not that I'm new to the world of fandom, it's just that I'm new to the world of LJ!fandom. And, uh, I keep thinking I should join one of these comms, but I really have no idea what they do. I mean, it's perfectly clear that I apply to be sorted onto a team, but then what?

Oh, don't feel bad:) I'm (fairly) new to LJ too and I didn't know what the heck they were either.

Basically, you're put into teams and you 'battle' each other. There are games like trivia challenges and anagrams. There are also challenges for icons/graphics, fics, and vids. You get points for (almost) every challenge you complete and at the end of several months, those points are tallied and one team is declared the winner.

There are no real prizes for the winning team, beyond bragging rights, but it's a great way to get involved in your favorite fandoms and meet some new people.

whedonland is the one I've been involved with the longest and, in my opinion, the most well-organized. The BSG comm, twelvecolonies, is pretty nice but so far, has run at a much slower pace than whedonland. wholand and bonesland haven't been up long enough for me to really say much about them.

Thanks for understanding. I always feel like I'm asking very silly questions. It sounds like some crazy-fandom fun. Are they terribly time-consuming or does it just depend on how much time I want to put into it?

By the way, your Callie-Arizona gifs make me very happy. Are you excited for next season?

If the team(s) you get on are like mine (so far, anyway), nobody gets upset if you don't participate that much. whedonland is very active. The others haven't really been around long enough.

I'm excited to see how the Callie/Arizona and Owen/Cristina relationships develop next season. I LOVE those characters and the actors who portray them. I'm less excited to see a George-less but still with plenty of Izzie season. I like KH but that character needed to die last season. And George...*sobs*...This will definately be a mixed season for me.

I totally agree. GA has pretty much died for me as a show with the exceptions of the Callie/Arizona, Owen/Christina, Mark/Lexie (sorta) and Alex. In my opinion, I think the show would be better of if it had called it quits a few seasons ago, but I can say that about most shows. I liked Izzie for the first few seasons (once she slept with George, I was pretty much done with her), but the entire season was all about HER dying of cancer. AND, now she is going to LIVE? I'm glad that Alex will be happy, but REALLY?

ITA. I haven't liked Izzie since Denny died and I've really disliked her since slept with George.

It made no sense to me to spend an entire season preparring to kill Izzie off, only to have her live and have another character die. I mean, I understand TRK wanted out and I honestly don't blame him but come on! Did they really have to throw him under a bus?!?!

I have mixed feelings on Mark/Lexie but I adore Alex. I just wish he'd fall for someone sane:)

I also love the friendships between Mark/Callie, Mer/Cris, Cris/Callie, Mark/Derek, and Alex/Meredith.

I'd be more excited for this season if I believed the writers were going to handle the Owen/Cristina and Callie/Arizona relationships properly. But considering their track-record when it comes to romantic relationships, I'm terrified neither couple will make it through this season in-tact!
